Optical stylets

We have listed these devices as a separate category, although they are really just a type of laryngoscope, enabling indirect laryngoscopy, like videolaryngoscopes do. The main difference from videolaryngoscopes is that an endotracheal tube can be loaded onto an optical stylet and railroaded into the trachea once the tip of the stylet has been passed through the vocal chords.

Optical stylets can be used as sole intubation devices or in combination with 'standard' laryngoscope blades.
